If you have the time, knowledge, resources and professional contacts required to sell real estate at the highest price and least amount of time possible then, by all means, save yourself the real estate fees and sell your house by yourself.
For goodness sakes, we all have know-how, skills, time and resources to do all sorts of things that we aren’t professionally trained to do and/or don’t have a lot of experience doing. Sometimes we choose to do those things ourselves. However, for many people, it just makes more sense to hire a professional to do the job for us. That’s just how the free market system works and has worked for a long time.
If you are planning to sell FSBO (For Sale By Owner) or if you are thinking of going with a limited service brokerage (there are still a few real estate brokers who are happy to take your money to put your home in the Multiple Listing Service and basically leave all the rest up to you) then, by all means, let’s at least take steps to ensure that you’re using your time, money and resources wisely.— Let’s face reality, some marketing techniques work but many don’t!
Unfortunately, far too many people who have real estate licenses don’t know any more about marketing than the people they list homes for but that’s a topic for another time. Suffice it to say that the vast majority of marketing that FSBO’s utilize and that real estate agents utilize just do nothing to get the home in front of the right, potential buyers!
