Here is a question we often hear, “I like this house but want to make sure my kids go to this or that school. So, which schools are zoned for this address?”
First, you need to understand that an address may be zoned for a certain school today but that could change tomorrow. The greater Jacksonville area continues to grow and new schools are built often and demographics change making it necessary for the school board to change the boundaries from time to time.
The best way to check on any specific address is to call the school board and ask. But if you are shopping for a new home, you may have 10 – 20 addresses you need to check.
And, this is important — if you know the zoning for one address, you should not ever assume that an address across the street is the same. The fact is that lines are drawn down the middle of a street so one house might be zoned for Wolfson High while the house across the street is zoned for Mandarin High.
Fortunately Duval, Clay and St Johns Counties have easy to use search webpages. All you have to do is go to the page and enter an address and it will give you the schools zoned for that address. I have each of them saved to my homepage on my iPhone so that I can access them quickly and easily.
If you are searching homes and the school choices are important to you, I recommend you do the same thing I did. Here are the links for each of the pages:
